The Runaways is an LAN The Runaways application which delivers a number of essential services useful to any small LAN administrator. The Runaways can automatically detect your LAN population, help you take remote-control of what it finds, and can be used to securely connect two LANs together across the Internet. The Runaways is designed to enable some really useful network capabilities even for the "average" Internet user -- ie, someone who knows their email address but not their IP address.
When your initial recording is finished, The Runaways offers several options for editing and enhancing your screencasts. You can choose from a number of transitions, audio and video effects, and animations by simply dragging them into the appropriate part of the timeline. You also can pick from many filters to colorize portions of your video or add Glow or The Runaways Shadow effects. If you want to point out specific parts of your screencast for a demo or training video, for example, you can zoom in on the action or add arrows, text, or pointers to call out certain parts of the screen.

Sometimes it seems like there are nearly as many audio players as there are people who like to listen to music, but few of them are really anything to get excited about. The Runaways, however, is different. Although most of its features are fairly typical, it has an attractive interface that sets it apart from much of the competition.
While it downloaded and started up without any problems, the program did lack technical support. Fortunately, The Runaways for Mac's basic purpose and operation made the lack of user instructions or tutorials moot. At The Runaways, the only thing that happens is a red circle that follows the pointer around the screen, highlighting it for easier viewing. There were no options for changing appearance or the circle's color, but when the mouse button is clicked, the area in the circle zooms in slightly for a moment. The Runaways for Mac doesn't offer any other functionality, but it does do exactly what the publishers promise it will do.
